Managing Director, Equine Nutritional Therapist

Profile

Antoinette foster is one of Australia’s most highly qualified equine nutritional therapist’s, she is also a qualified medical herbalist and human nutritionist. Antoinette has been a practitioner for 25 years and has continued her training throughout this time. She began work in 2010 with Dr Margie Smith a molecular geneticist. Some initial studies introduced the world of genetic science and the effect on gene expression from nutrition into the equine side of Antoinette’s business. Antoinette has always believed that every equine just like humans are individuals, they should be treated in this way with great respect for their health and well-being. In 2013 Antoinette began conducting seminars Australia wide from Queensland to South Australia to Western Australia and the Northern Territory, these seminars were designed to give the horse owner the tools to not only manage their horses feed program but also their overall health and well-being. Genetic science has advanced substantially in the last 20 years and integrating the knowledge that Antoinette has into the management of horses is extremely exciting.

Antoinette’s presentations are dynamic, enjoyable, highly educational and her aim is to provide horse owners trainers and breeders with the tools to ensure that their horses achieve optimum health on a long-term basis. In 2014 Antoinette will be joining practitioners such as Tanja Mitton, Dr Ashleigh Hibberd and a number of other practitioners to conduct unique and exciting clinics and workshops. The aim of these clinics and workshops is to provide a hands on atmosphere for horse owners around Australia. The first of these series begin in March 2014 in Victoria.

Antoinette is a passionate horse owner and rider and this year commemorates 10 years since her last competition, and this year Antoinette is heading out on her new horse Leadburn Rotstein into the dressage arena once again.

Favourite thing about your job: Helping people fix problems that they’ve had with their horses (and sometimes help horse’s fix problems they’ve had with their people) Hometown: Perth Home at the moment: Melbourne Favourite childhood horse memory: Mounted games as a kid with friends on hilarious, naughty ponies. Jumping my first big show jumping course. Seeing my first Grand Prix dressage horse – mesmerising! How did you get involved with horses? My mum grew up riding on the family farm, and I’ve been obsessed with horses for as long as I can remember. I started riding lessons at a pretty young age and progressed to getting my own horse as a teenager and have never looked back. I think my family have now worked out that I’m not growing out of this ‘phase’. Do you have horses now? I lost my beautiful horse, Cinnie, last year and I’m currently looking for a new horse to step into his (rather large) shoes. Who was your favourite horse as a kid? Denny from ‘The Man from Snowy River’, or Arizona Pie from ‘International Velvet’. I watched both those movies more than was healthy… And now? My favourites change just about weekly… and can range from super cute foals, to a dear old geriatric, to an impressive racehorse, to a cheeky pony - generally I love seeing happy horses who are enjoying what they are doing.

What do you like to do in your spare time? Ride, read, run with my dog, go out with friends, play pool, see live music What is your favourite movie? The Princess Bride What is your favourite book? Pride and Prejudice, Last Days of Summer, To Kill a Mockingbird Tell us something people might be surprised to know about you? I’m a massive news junkie/politics nerd (possibly not surprising). I would like to learn how to make furniture (one day).

Chloe Morris Chloble Park Performance Horses , Victoria
Hi Antoinette, I'm just writing to say thank you very much for having such a wonderful product as Proflam Aid+. Once again it has done such a wonderful job in getting my horses sound and back to health within days. My most recent horse had slipped in the paddock resulting in, severely pulling a muscle in his shoulder, and being lame, with in three days of using Proflam Aid+ as recommended he was sound and back to making a full recovery. I cant thank you enough. We also love using your PerformPlus with maintenance of the show horses.
